The Global Movement for Tree Equity
The global Tree Equity movement is growing. Since 2021, American Forests’ Tree Equity Score has been making an impact in towns and cities throughout the United States. Now, with our partners and friends at Woodland Trust and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, we’ve extended that reach across the Atlantic with Tree Equity Score UK. Over 2 years in the making, take a look at how we collaborated with local partners to bring Tree Equity Score UK to towns and cities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Learn how Chris David, Vice President of the GIS & Data Science, and Mushtaaq Ali, Senior Manager of GIS & Data Science, from American Forests and our partners from from Woodland Trust and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare are working together to ensure trees are being prioritized for in neighborhoods that need them most in the UK. Tree Equity Score UK is a map-based application that helps community advocates, health advocates, urban forestry professionals and many others address disparities in urban tree distribution by identifying the areas in greatest need of people-focused investment in trees.
